The Members of the British Transport Police Authority attend the six annual meetings of the Full Authority. They are also divided into smaller committees and working groups to conduct more specific tasks.
There are up to 17 places for membership of BTPA, including a Chair and a Deputy Chair, appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport. Members are required to have knowledge of a range of views from the rail industry and rail passengers. Vacancies are publicly advertised by the Department for Transport and filled when required.
