Tricia Hayes is a former civil service Permanent Secretary. She is Chair Designate of London TravelWatch and a member of the Board of Transport Focus.
Prior to leaving the civil service in May 2023, Tricia worked in the Home Office, leading work on crime and policing before taking up the Second Permanent Secretary role in 2021. Before that she had spent most of her 35-year career in the Department for Transport, where she led work across the sector, including on roads and motoring, local and urban transport, aviation, and the future of mobility. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation and was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath in the New Year Honours List 2021. She has three adult sons and is a regular volunteer for English Heritage.
