BTPA Full Authority
Main statutory decision-making body of the BTPA, established under the Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003 and comprised of all BTPA Members appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport. Meets at least 5 times per year.
Audit and Risk Assurance Committee
Mandated by the HM Treasury’s Managing Public Money. Provides independent advice and assurance to the BTPA Full Authority and Accounting Officer on effectiveness of governance, risk management, internal control and assurance arrangements.
Performance Committee
Provides oversight and assurance to the BTPA Full Authority on the delivery of the BTPA Strategic Plan and BTP Policing Plan, and on the effective management of strategic performance, planning, organisational change and operational performance across BTP.
People and Legitimacy Committee
Provides oversight and assurance to the BTPA Full Authority on the effective management and delivery of British Transport Police’s people, culture, wellbeing and legitimacy portfolios, with focused scrutiny of workforce matters and professional standards.
Scottish Railways Policing Committee
Mandated by the Scottish Government. Provides accountability, oversight and assurance on the safe, effective and Best Value delivery of railway policing in Scotland, scrutinising plans, performance, stakeholder engagement and interoperability with Police Scotland, and reporting to the BTPA, Scottish Police Authority and Scottish Ministers.
