Iain is an elected member of the City of Edinburgh Council where he leads his political group. He has extensive experience on the Boards of public bodies, having served as one of the first members of the Scottish Police Authority and was a Board member of NHS Lothian.
Prior to the reform of the Police Service in Scotland, Iain was the Convener of Lothian and Borders Police Board and a member of the Board of the Scottish Police Services Authority. His early career included positions in the NHS and as a political researcher in the Scottish Parliament.
