The area received a letter from the Scottish Ethnic Minority Sports Association thanking BTP for supporting and participating in their annual games.

President Del Singh, said:

“SEMSA remains committed to supporting opportunities for the BME community in sport.”

Death of Ex-Officer Tommy Burns

It is with great regret that we have been informed of the death of one of ex-colleagues Tommy Burns – who died on 21 March 2009. Out thoughts are with his family.

BTPA Approves 2009/10 Policing Plan

The British Transport Police Authority (BTPA) approved the 2009-10 Policing Plan, which will take effect on 1 April, at its meeting last Thursday,12 March.

Chief Constable Ian Johnston said:

“This approval reflects the hard work undertaken by all BTP Areas, the BTPA Policing Plan subcommittee and FHQ in developing the plan.”

A number of the targets depend on end of year performance and the Strategic Development Department, based at FHQ, will provide confirmation of the final numbers shortly after 1 April.

All officers are reminded that the closing date for the Staff Officer to ACC (Scotland) and Sergeant seconded to Transport Scotland vacancies is next Friday – Friday 3 April 2009
