DS Jeremy
Walley, based in the Area Crime Unit at Area Headquarters would like to
talk to any officers who conducted stop checks on Tuesday, 9 June and
Wednesday, 10 June and who recognise the below
description. “The
BTP were…on it today, I saw officers in almost
every…[rail] station I went
through both today and yesterday. Saw someone getting violated by about 9
officers in Herne Hill station, and others on standby in almost every
other. “They
tried to nick me TWICE, first for smoking a cigarette, then on the train
for not having a ticket. Second time was the jokest
[sic] by far, trying to arrest me simply for not
having a ticket and having been on the train for 'a long
time'. “I
told them I would happily purchase a ticket if they could produce a
[ticket
inspector], they retorted that I had
been on the train without a ticket long enough for them to nick me.
“This
continued for far too long until they radioed through a
[ticket
inspector] through who subsequently
sold me a child ticket (!) and told them to chill
down.” DS Walley
would be interested in talking to the author of the extract, taken from a
graffiti forum, and is asking any officers who think they may have taken
his or her details to contact him via email or on 020 7904
