Dear Colleague,

I forward you a letter from the Home Secretary (19 Feb) announcing her decision to abolish Activity-Based Costing (ABC) - with immediate effect.

While a replacement mechanism has yet to be formally agreed, Objective Accounting (OA) appears to be gaining momentum as an option. Supporting this view is CIPFA's acceptance of OA proposals last week, though further consultation with stakeholders is required.
