Our role?
Section 55 of the Railways and Transport safety Act requires the Authority to;
…before the beginning of each consecutive period of three financial years issue a plan which sets out the authority’s medium-term and long-term strategies for the policing the railways during that period.
The themes within the strategy potentially affect all rail passengers, staff and operators as well as the employees of the Force and the Police Authority. Developing and annually refreshing the strategic plan are important part of the Authority’s business.

BTPA business cycle |
Sections 2.1.2, 4.1 , 7.1 and Appendix A of the BTPA business cycle sets out where and how the Authority has agreed that it will go about a three year Strategic Plan for the BTP. This also highlights the times of year when stakeholders can expect to be contacted for their inputs to the strategy setting process. |

Feedback from our annual stakeholder workshop |
As part of our annual business cycle we hold a stakeholder workshop in the autumn which launches the policing plan, strategic plan processes and discussions on the budget. This is the first opportunity that our rail industry and rail passenger partners have to recommend the main areas of concern that they would like us to consider and what funding is likely to be needed to deliver these objectives. |
